OPS is mainly used for diagnosis and programming BMW vehicles after E65series .

OPS unit with DIS software is used for diagnosis,which is carried out via OBD-II socket .

OPS unit with SSS software is used for programming,which is carried out via OBD-II socket and MOST socket .

Optical programming system (OPS) for programmingvehicles is handled in exactly the same way as the OPPS.

The connection is effected simultaneously to the OBDII socket and also to the MOST fiber-optic access in the vehicle. Theconnection to the workshop network is effected via network cable to afree network connection.

Like the OPPS, the OPS does not have an air interface,as the high bandwidth required for programming can currently only beachieved by means of a cable connection.
